Our Office Manager Claudia LaSmith attended the 2019 American Association of Dental Management conference in Orlando, Florida July 2019. During this conference, she took many classes to keep our practice updated on the latest in dentistry. A couple of wonderful events happened while she was at this conference she along with other AADOM members made 40,000 meals for families in need. She is also a board member for the Triangle area chapter which educates Office Managers in the triangle and they won the chapter of the year award! One of the things we are most proud of was that Claudia was nominated by our team for Practice Administrator of the year and won Practice Administrator of Distinction. This makes her one of the top nine in the nation including Canada. We are proud to have her at our practice. Congratulations!
We hope this newsletter finds you and your family in good health. We are very excited to see patients again at our office. Our community has been through a lot over the past couple of months and all of us are looking forward to getting back to our normal routines. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your health and safety.
Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice as you probably noticed in your past visits to our office. Our infection control processes are designed such that when you receive care, it is both safe and comfortable. Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the US Center for Disease Control (CDC), and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on new rulings or guidance that may be issued. We do this to ensure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to each agencies’ recommendations. Protocols we have created in our sterilization procedures include:
All operatory surfaces will be sprayed and wiped to keep the most sterile environment possible.
Items around the office (door knobs, bathrooms, countertops, pens, etc.) will be wiped down and sanitized every hour
Plexiglas shields are present to protect patients and staff
Medical grade, high-flow HEPA filtration unit in addition to office HVAC air filtration system
UV light sanitation of all patient treatment areas
As a result of our added protocols we have put in place to promote safety, you may see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. For example:
Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask some screening questions. You will be asked those same questions again when you are in the office.
We have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use when you enter the office.
Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients.
We will do our best to allow greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you as well as reduce the amount of patients at any one time.
